The pit of the fruit is a sunrise

Currently in the studio…Oil on canvas (unstretched) 18″x 14″.

Update to work in progress…

Adding color, sparingly. Color can quickly overwhelm a painting, so I have to be careful.

a work in progress

This one is leading me. I am not in charge. The painting has taken over, and I am along for the ride.

Crusade

This is a new painting titled “Crusade”. It is painted in oil, on canvas, 16″ x 20″. This painting is new territory for me.

The reality of being an artist

Part of the reason that I have not updated my blog lately is because I have been working at a tech company on a temporary assignment.

Currently, in the studio…

I am working with intense color, and limiting my use of black. The light must be intense, and overpowering.

Work in progress – untitled

I am working with a bright palette on this painting. While working I keep thinking of a painting by Reubens titled ‘Massacre of the Innocents’.  My composition is very different, but the emotion is there.

Refuge

Refuge, oil on canvas 66″ x 48″ The margin of life seems so slim. Near the end of painting this I read a very sad  story about a man who lost his wife and children.

The Journey – work in progress

This drawing began as a mess, and evolved into an image that I never would have imagined. To understand nature, my nature, I draw and paint.

Latest work

After the rain The stain Ruthless garden The order   Here are some of my most recent small paintings.

Untitled, work in progress

This is a small 8 x 10 inch oil painting that I have been working on.

I finished this one just in time…

This painting was recently shown with some of my other work  at Kulture Klash here in Charleston SC. Oil on Canvas, 30″ x 24″.

Newest painting for my abstract series about nature

I just finished this one in time for a Kulture Klash April 25th in Charleston, SC. Oil on canvas, 48″ x 36″.

Annual March Show

Updated photograph of “Gravity”

I finished this painting several weeks ago and forgot to post an update. Here it is, “Gravity” oil on canvas, 24″ x 30″

A small watercolor

Refuge, watercolor, 5″ x 5″, 2015 I painted this one in about 3 hours. I think a large version of this could take a while.

Red river

This one is another oil on canvas. I am not sure what I will call it yet. I left the tails off of the fish with the idea that it would really streamline their bodies.
